Description

The i30 was created from years of design and research, bringing the best open face helmet to the market. It starts with the next generation face shield. This new Pinlock ready shield offers a wide distortion-free view and now has a reinforced frame around the lower edges to reduce wind turbulence. The shield also uses the tool-less, quick release base plate system for easy to use install/removal.
We also updated the internal sun shield with an increased coverage area than our previous model. The 3 top vent intake system provides maximum airflow into the helmet, while the rear exhaust spoiler creates a vacuum effect flushing out the heat. The Multi-Cool top liner and cheek pad interior gives additional cooling features with its moisture-wicking anti-bacterial fabric.
The 2 Shell/3 EPS breakdown reduces the weight of the helmet and offers better sizing. The i30 is also Smart HJC ready to accept the 10B or 20B Bluetooth systems (*sold separately). Overall, this new Open Face helmet will be the choice of riders for years to come.

    Smaller than the normal large

I called it the helmet from Hell. I was in pain wearing this thing. I love HCJ helmets and have several. I have a 3/4 helmet in white that is the same size and fits nice. This one is definitely smaller than normal. It will be a garage queen as I don’t see me wearing it willingly ever again.

    Everything I expected. Great buy!

Love the fit. Used it on a long ride and it was comfortable. Recommend it to all.

Good helmet but could be better

Let’s start with the bad/could be better. The main reason I sent this back is due to the internal sun shade deployment slide. Just about every time I use the slide, it come out of the track. Easily put back in but this just could be a problem with the helmet I received. Size: Size is always an issue with helmets as they are based on head size and shape. I normally wear an XL but ordered a 2XL, which isn’t bad just a little snug. A 3XL would have been better but isn’t available. This is funny as my HJC modular helmet is an XL as well is my half helmet. I ordered an LS2 helmet just like this HJC and it was a 3XL, which was too tight. So, ensure you order a helmet with free returns. Next problem which can be overcome is crown padding or lack there of. There is just a thin pad/webbing at the top. This was the only area where my head was hurting. Not a deal breaker for me as that could be fixed but something to take into consideration. The last thing which is a get with the time gripe than a negative. This helmet uses the old school d-ring chin strap mechanism. Come on, get with the times as start use the ratchet system. The positives: Plenty of padding around with the exception of the top. The neck/check padding was a little snug/tight but after about 10-15 mins it loosened up and was great. The top venting works pretty well. I really like how the mechanism works. The sun shade is well designed except for the opening slide. The sun shade when fully deployed was about 1/2 in or more from my nose, which was great. It was also several inches away from my face, which left plenty of room for my riding glasses. The visor: The visor had a surprise I somehow missed in the description. It is pin-lock ready. With the pin-lock visor installed the that area of the visor won’t fog up. It’s a plus as not a lot of air comes into the helmet from underneath. The lack of some air could be seen as a negative. Both the visor and the sun shade was easy to remove. The last positive is the helmet was pre-designed to accept Bluetooth whether it’s HJC or others; preformed speaker areas, a integrated HJC Bluetooth battery compartment at the back of the helmet (I think that’s what it is). The outside noise at highway speeds was low and I could still hear my bikes speakers. Overall, I would recommend. I will be purchasing again when black is available. My bike is black and white and I ordered white, which just didn’t work for me.Edit: purchased the Semi-black. The issue with the sun visor is somewhat resolved. It wants to come out of the track but it hasn’t so far. The crown padding is still the same. A solution is to buy bicycle helmet padding. I purchased a breathable set. Ensure it is a Velcro attacked kind so it can be removed and washed. I placed 40mm speakers in the helmet and they work very well. I didn’t have to attach them to the speaker wells. Cheek pads hold the in. Now another down side I just found out about. It seems in the US, there isn’t a pinlock shield available. Got this straight from HJC US. So, there’s a wasted capability. Can only find then in Europe so far.

    Firm fit

Fits kinda tight, however I rather have it tight than loose.

    Great Helmet at Great Price

It seems to be a good helmet and I’m very satisfied so far. Just installed the blue tooth mic and I love it.

    Comfortable but bubble head look

The fit was exact (XL) and putting in my Sena blue tooth Comms system was much easier than on the previous HJC 33. I like the cover and thickness of the face shield. The helmet is not very sound proof but provides more wind protection than the older model. Takes time to learn your sun visor pull down tab location. The previous model had a sliding tab on the back of the helmet sliding upwards. This one is on the left lower side of the helmet sliding forward. I do wish the helmet profile was a little smaller but still it's an improvement over the older version.

    Great fit

This helmet is a great looking helmet. The drop down tinted visor is sooo handy. I can use it with my normal prescription glasses and then pops up and out of the way when you don't need it.

    Good and bad

The good. It's relatively lightweight. Well padded. I was able to install my intercom system pretty easily, although it's not the recommended HJC system, so I didn't use the built-in port. The bad. It's SNUG. I got an XL, which is what I normally wear, and it's really tight. Hopefully that will ease up with wear. It's NOT glasses-friendly. Just about tear my ears off trying to put it on, and the top of the face opening pushes down on my glasses. Maybe I should have gone with the 2XL. Also, the face shield isn't attached very well. I've already popped it off accidentally a couple of times just putting the helmet on.All in all, I'm somewhat disappointed. Next time I buy a helmet it will be through a brick and mortar store where I can try it on first.
